Muscle Overuse and Aloeride
For many athletes the subject of overtraining is a non-issue. People who train more than four times a week may experience some form of muscle overuse or overtraining. Even the strongest athlete can at times experience the symptoms of muscle overuse or overtraining. Here we will give some useful tips, which will include the use of probiotics and Aloeride.
Overtraining can best be described as a chronic persistent fatigue. It is a lack of balance between the physical stress of training and the recovery from that training. In the early stages, overtraining is the result of too much training and not enough recovery time.
This is typically called the orthosympathetic form. In more advanced stages the orthosympathetic tone becomes fatigued which allows the parasympathetic system to become more dominant.
The person who is in orthosympathetic form is in a permanent state of fight or flight. This typically only occurs occasionally, when your adrenal glands give out the hormone adrenaline, noradrenalin and cortisol, and at the same time raising the human growth hormone and thyroid-stimulating hormone. These were never designed for the long haul.

The overtrained person who is in parasympathetic mode will take on some of the symptoms of Addison’s disease. That is why it is sometimes referred to as Addisonoid overtraining. This fight or flight mode that is constant has served to wear down the adrenal glands and now they will not be able to regulate concentrations of hormones correctly.
Now the overtrained athlete has a more serious condition. If blood work were to be taken on this person now they would show anemia with a low hemoglobin and low haematocrit.
The complaint heard from most athletes suffering from this condition is their inability to perform. The most common symptoms to this condition are a greater susceptibility to infections. They will also experience fatigue and possible depression.
When an athlete feels they are not performing well their first instinct is to train more. This will only worsen the situation. The increasingly progressive symptoms are frequently ignored until their performance is severely affected.
Athletes suffering from overtraining often experience difficulty falling asleep and waking in the night. They will often wake feeling un refreshed from a nights sleep also.
They may also suffer from weight loss, a loss of appetite, becoming increasingly emotional that can lead to depression, anxiety, irritability and complete mental exhaustion. They will develop a bad attitude toward training and will experience soreness in the muscles.
A simple way to keep track of your overtraining condition is to take your pulse first thing in the morning. Make sure you do this while you are still in your bed. If this pulse rate is increasing by more than eight beats per minute on any day, above your previous weeks rate then you are beginning to become overtrained.
You can also keep track of your weight. If your weekly average weight is more than three pounds less than your previous weeks average weight you are also becoming overtrained.
There are lab tests that can show certain signs of overtraining. The hormone cortisol and DHEA are only released according to the circadian rhythm, which means that the levels should be higher in the morning than they are at night. These levels will be out of balance if an athlete is becoming overtrained. This is usually tested with saliva samples.
There are three ways an athlete can become overtrained:
- The intensity of the training becomes excessive
- There is no recovery time allowed from difficult training
- There is a deficiency in the diet
To correct the first two problems, the training must be eased up and the recovery time extended. If the condition is in its severest stages the athlete should not train at all for one to two weeks. They should increase their sleep to at least nine hours every night of good sleep and increase their daily intake of an antioxidant to 200% of what is usually used.
To give support to the adrenal glands during overtraining the diet should be supplemented with extracts from thoroughly checked free-range animals that do not contain hormones and antibiotics. Supplementation with DHEA should only be used if the tests indicate it is necessary.
If the diet is not nutritionally sufficient then a diet rich in whole foods and the supplementation of Aloeride and probiotics should be implemented.
Ignorance can lead an athlete to train too hard without giving their body the adequate nutrition to sustain the activity. This poor nutrition can lead to injury, overtraining and illness.
To prevent infections and decrease the length of time an athlete suffers from them, the immune system must be supported. Aloeride and probiotics can accomplish this goal. They can also improve the body’s ability to absorb the nutrients from food.
A study that was conducted in Australia of twenty healthy male athletes discovered that the administration of probiotics successfully reduced the severity and number of days of illness for respiratory illness in these athletes.
Athletes or anyone who is experiencing overtraining should make sure to get the proper rest between bouts of training and eat a balanced diet. They should also supplement their diet with the use of probiotics and Aloeride. This will help in the recovery from overtraining.
